“green” philosophy

Environmentally Friendly Window Treatments

At Eye on Design, we focus on obtaining and understanding the “green’ design and product advances within the window treatment industry as they develop.  It is our goal to be the leading resource in our market with regard to “Green” technology and product lines.

While no window treatment product can be LEED certified to date, some may help a total project achieve LEED Certification, by contributing toward Energy Performance, Material and Resource Use, and Indoor Environmental Quality, 3 of the 5 credit categories needed for LEED certification.  Window treatment also contributes to the distribution of light and preservation of view within a commercial environment.

At Eye on Design, we focus on helping “green” minded architects, building owners, property managers, designers, contractors  and facility managers to make educated decisions about the specification of “green” window treatments.  We explain material options relative to their distance from the jobsite,  recyclable material content, stability with regard to VOC’s and formaldehydes, energy efficiency, ability to preserve exterior views, ability to control light in a commercial space reducing the need for additional ceiling fixtures, maintenance & cleaning requirements and lifespan.

We practice what we preach.  Despite our responsibilities as a full service fabrication and installation business, under a 5,000 square foot roof, we manage to recycle-re-purpose or re-use 95% of the materials that might be considered trash by others.  We don’t even have our own dumpster. Only one 15 gallon bag of kitchen refuse is placed in landfills each week at Eye on Design.  Your old window treatments will be recycled or re-purposed when we install the new ones.
